Casino Golf Club is situated in the Northern NSW town of Casino, the Beef Capital of Australia. Our golf course is considered one of the best on the Northern Rivers, being challenging for experienced golfers but not too difficult for less experienced players. Casino is within an easy drive of Tenterfield, Grafton, Coff Harbour, Byron Bay, Glen Innes, Gold Coast and only a 3 hours from Brisbane. Visitors are most welcome.

  • What a day it was on the 11th of November, remembering our fallen at 11 a.m. The Casino Social Golf Club & Darren Rae were the sponsors of the Mexican 4BBB Stableford Event and the majority of the 104 players soldiered on through the wind and the rain that came down in buckets on a couple of occasions. It was a huge day for the Golfers with Malcolm Olive (13) and Darren Rae(29) finishing with 51 points from the 1st Runner Ups Zac Innes (10) & Darren Grimston (27) who had 49 points from 2nd Runners Up Terry Oaten (19) & Nathan Chadderton (18) on 48.

  • It was definitely a cooler day to play golf on Wednesday 8th with the temperature getting to around 24 degrees, and the overcast weather turned a few players away. There was a field of 32 players for the O/A Clydesdale Trophy and the Division Trophies were provided by Casino Centre Bakery.   • Casino Golf Club Foscars & Casino Tyre Professionals 4 Person Team Drop the Worst Score Stableford event took place today and there were 92 in the field. Bill Stanford, Peter Kennedy, Jim Moffitt & Fred Imeson took out the day with 120 Nett from Malcom Olive, Greg Snow, Keith Norris & Daniel Smith who finished with 118 Nett. Balls went to 115, and the Turkeys Nest has 16 balls in which was not won.

  • Wednesday 25th October and all donations have been made to the respective local charities as the Outgoing Committee finalises their year of a job well done as well as a great golfing year. Rebecca from “Our Kids” came to the club after the golf game to accept the donation made to “Our Kids” based in Lismore near the Base Hospital; to talk with the Ladies to let them know about the job they do and what the money will be spent on. They do a wonderful job for the kids and families who need the support and somewhere to stay during treatment.

  • Monday 9th October and the weather in the early morning looked ominous threatening rain for the PRO AM to be held at the Casino Golf Club. As the day progressed the sun came out shining and it was a perfect day for the 32 PROs who came to mix it with the 50+ local golfers. A Shot Gun start was the aim for the day at 11.00 a.m. and Nicole James the PGA Representative along with our local PRO Ian Halliday organized the field of Amateurs and Pro’s to spread out around the course and get ready for the best challenge of the year on the best course in the Northern Rivers.

  • There were 104 in the field to contest the Cowen’s NRMA (Greg Cowan) Trophy held on Saturday 7th October which is a closed event. Greg has been a major sponsor with the Casino Golf Club for many years, supporting the locals who come to his NRMA Store. The weather was cool and the scores depicted the great course we have here in Casino. A Grade Winner Wayne Nowland (13) finished with 68 Nett on a c/b from Gavin Hayter (11), 2nd Runner Up was Adrian Lotz (12) with 70 Nett.

  • The two senior teams from the Casino Golf Club Netball combined forces and entered the 2017 Masters Netball competition.
    The competition was held over three very hot days. The ladies played 6 games on the first day, winning 5 and 5 games on the second, finishing 5th overall. This saw the ladies in Pool B for the finals.

    A great roll up on a mild morning to play the monthly stroke for golf club and veterans vouchers. Wayne Nowland played the best with a 66nett to win the major prize from Terry Blanch 67, Brian Butler 68, Tim Meyer 68,Bob Reiche 69, Ted Fogarty 69 and Noel Kinsley 71. There was a field of 34 who started out from 8.00 a.m. onwards to play the Mulherin Schier Accountants 27 Hole Foursomes Championship with the 18 Hole Carolyn Ross Foursomes Trophy in conjunction. Damian Mulherin came out from Mulherin & Schier Chartered Accountants to congratulate the girls on their great scores. Gross Winners were Jackie Bratti (3) and Debbie Low (14) with a Scratch Score of 132, from Runners Up Nora Viel (17) and Louise Formaggin (20) with a Scratch of 139.

  • After a disrupted couple of weeks, it was good to see 38 vets turn up for a single stableford. The winner of the main voucher was Noel Urane with 39 c/b from Bob Betts 39 c/b and Steve Schultz also 39pts. Other prize winners were Tim Wilson 38, Ron Porter 36, Ted Fogarty 36 and Ron Black 35. The 14 ball rundown went to all scores of 31pts and better. Nearest the pin winners were Jeff Lassig on 12th and Trevor Wood on 17th.

  • Wednesday 9th August there was a field of 28 for the Judith McHugh and Joyce Brown Trophy. The flu seems to have caught up with some and others are
    getting over operations. It was also the final round of the President’s Trophy. The morning was chilly to start and as the day moved on the sun
    kept shining and warmed up to about 22 degrees. The scores are depicting the run the course is now providing.

  • Sunday 6th August and “The Hannigan Solicitors Sponsored 27 Hole Mixed Foursome Championships” game was on at Casino Golf Club. At the end of the day there were stories told of being put up close to OOB fences and returning the favour to their partners. There were stories of being put into one dam only to have their partner put them into the dam on the other side of the fairway. There were stories of 5 putting greens. At the end of the day though the best thing of all is the players and their partners are still talking to each other and laughing about the day they have had.

  • Saturday 5th August was the Mick O’Neill Northern NSW Forestry Services Monthly Medal Stroke Event and there were 83 starters. Congratulations A Grade Winner was Tim Wilson (9) with 69 on a c/b from Matt Bradley (11). B Grade Winner was Gary Wedesweiler (17) with 70 from Greg O’Leary (16) who finished with 71. C Grade Winner was Jamie Bennett (25) with 68 on a c/b from Robert Nolan (25). Jamie Bennett was also the Monthly Medal winner.   • The long month of June paid off for some during the Womens Golf Casino Championships which started at the beginning of the month on Wednesday 7th June. The 2nd Round took place on Friday 9th June.   • Due to the constant rain we have had over the past 2 weeks and the course being closed for the major part of this time. The course was finally opened to the ladies Wednesday 21st who wanted to walk. THEN at the last minute after further inspection the course was open to carts as well; with strict instructions as to where carts could go, because the course was still very wet in lots of places, and mowers could not get on the fairways to mow. AND the same conditions will apply on Friday.

  • There weather looked a little ominous on Wednesday 10th May and so the field went from 32 to 27. The weather maps also said there was a 30% chance of rain, so the players who came did go out and play for the Global Tyre & Mechanical Trophies. The 30% chance of rain became 100% at around the 10.30 a.m. mark, so there were players who pulled out at the last minute.

  • “How Good Is Golf” Wow another eventful day at the Casino Golf Club when 104 starters from all over the Northern Rivers have come to participate in the morning session of the Casino Vets Open Day Tournament. The weather has been turned on for them with a 28 degree sunny day. The course has just turned out a treat with the warmth and a gentle breeze to help dry it out after the continuous rain last week.

  • Monday 10th April, it was time for 9 Casino Teams to travel to Kyogle to play for the Kyogle vs Casino Shield Match , a 4BBB Matchplay competition, which is held each year at alternate golf courses. Kyogle was lucky this year with the deluge of rain that had fallen in the past couple of weeks. The flooding didn’t actually reach right into the lower level of the Club House thankfully.

  • The course proved to be wet on Saturday 18th March after the heavens opened through Friday night. There was lots of discussion with Green Staff, the Pro and others; and finally it was decided the course was NOT unplayable so the 72 Hole Men’s Ongmac Championships FINAL round would be played. It was damp throughout the whole course; and there was some water in a couple of bunkers due to drainage problems. There will be concentrated efforts to fix these problems during the 2018 year.

The weather and the course were actually quite good for the amount of rain we have had over the past few weeks.   • Monday 13th March, the weather attempted to rain throughout the whole day, but this didn’t deter the majority of the 99 lady golfers from all over the Northern Rivers area coming to participate in the Women’s Golf Northern Rivers (WGNR) Vets Championship held at Casino. In the end there was a field of 90. WGNR President Robyne Trotter said the ladies really love to come to Casino, it is indicative of the numbers who participate in this event, and thanked Casino Ladies President Debbie Low and her committee for the great job of organizing the early morning tea and the wonderful afternoon tea her ladies provided.

  • Wednesday 15th Feb, was the Richmond Dairies Sponsored Trophy with a field of 27 allowing only 2 Grades. The numbers were down this day unfortunately. It was great to have Julie Llewellyn; a representative of the company come and play with the ladies and help present the vouchers for the day. Julie (also one of our weekend golfers) gave some information on the Richmond Dairies business. Richmond Dairies not only supplies their waste water to our dams for our fairways, they also donate a lot back to the community of Casino, and they are always affected by the problems that affect our dairy farmers.

    With the spasmodic drop of rain we have had over the past few evenings the course is really looking good, fairways are green, and the greens were a little tough today. There were 90 players compete for the North Coast Mini Mart trophies thank you to Sam & Simon. A Grade winner was John Riggall with 41 points on a countback from Jason Adam.   • Results of Casino Golf Club Mixed Day on 29/1/17

    It was an early start today with a Shotgun at 8.00 a.m. and towards the end it did get quite warm. The first mixed day had 22 Starters and it was nail biting till the very end for Terry and Julie Llewellyn sitting in the winners circle until the last group came in with the same score of 42 points and they were beaten on a countback. Malcolm and Helen Olive were the winners and Helen says it was only the birdie Malcolm had on the last hole that did it.

  • Wednesday 1st February is a 7.30 to 8.00 start Single Stableford for the ladies coming back to golf. Welcome back and I hope you have had a great Christmas break.
    If you are the first groups out can you please take the NTP’s with you, AND if you are the last groups to hit off can you please take a bag with you and bring in the NTP’s.
    The flags don’t get put out until after 7.00 a.m., so if you start before 7.00 a.m. you may be hitting to a green that doesn’t have a flag on it, and the hole placement may also change.

  • Welcoming in the 2017 Year on Tuesday 3rd were 37 Vets for the 1st Stroke Round of the year, and they were all grateful of the cooler weather. The winner of the day was Ron Thorne with a great 65 Nett, followed by Aub Scofield with 68 on a countback from Noel Kinsley. NTP’s – on the 1st was Len Brown, the 11th Ron Black, the 12th Ricky Quinn (glad to be back from his holiday overseas), and the 17th Noel Kinsley. Balls went to 77 on a countback
