Saturday, 3rd March there were 125 in the field to contest the 1st Round of the Ongmac Trading Sponsored Men’s Championships at Casino. The Green staff worked tirelessly to get the course and the greens in excellent condition for the competition. Riley Taylor (+2) started his campaign with an outstanding 65 scr from Justin Northfield (5) with 76 scr. A Reserve Wayne Jackson (11) has had 80 scr to start his game off from Garry Randall (12) on 84. B Grade player Ian Eggleton (16) finished with 85 scr from John Wilkinson & Ted Fogarty on 90. C Grade Gary Shephard (22) has had 93 scr from Russell Charlton (22) with 95 scr.
Winners of the Ongmac Trading competition of the day were A Grade Riley Taylor with 67 Nett, from Wayne Jackson 69. B Grade Stephen Nelson with 68 Nett from Ian Eggleton 69. Sunday, 4th March the 2nd round of the Ongmac Trading Sponsored Men’s Championships saw a field of 97. Riley continued on to finish with 67, leading by 12 shots. A Reserve shows Wayne Jackson still in front from Garry Randall by 6 shots. B Grade Ian Eggleton is holding on by 1 shot from John Wilkinson and C Grade Gary Shephard improved his lead by 17.
Winners of the Ongmac Trading competition of the day were A Grade John Quirk with 67 Nett on a c/b from Wayne McInnes. B Grade Phill Sheehan with 68 on a c/b from Dennis Wyatt. C Grade Garry Shephard 66 on a c/b from Peter Kennedy.
Saturday, 10th March the 3rd round of the Ongmac Trading Sponsored Men’s Championships. We have had rain throughout the week and the course is wet; the Green staff have continued through the rain during the week to keep the fairways mown and the greens in good condition. It is unfortunate “Preferred Lies” had to be introduced, as defending Champion Riley Taylor was looking to break a Course Record, and is 8 under Par after 3 Rounds. Riley has kept his lead by 24 shots from Justin Northfield, John Quirk is closing the gap on Wayne Jackson in A Reserve being 1 shot off the pace. Stephen Nelson is just holding on by 2 shots from Ian Eggleton in B Grade. Terry O’Brien will have to keep his finger on the pulse next Saturday to catch Gary Shephard who is 13 shots in front.
Winners of the Ongmac Trading competition of the day were A Grade Wayne Jackson (11) with 70 from Adam Shields (4) 71. B Grade Dom Rosa (19) with 70 from Tony Davis (18) with 71. C Grade Jamie Bennett (26) had the best round of his life with a 68 nett from Robert Nolan (24) who finished with 72 nett.
