Men's Club Championships, sponsored by “Ongmac Trading; Greg Martin Ph:66215981”
The “Ongmac Club Championships” concluded over Saturday and Sunday, for a change with very little wind, and it proved to be a walk in the park for Brad McLennan, who had rounds of 75,73,73 and 72 for a 72 hole total of 293. In the absence of his old foe Mick Greber, McLennan had a mere 18 shots to spare over his nearest rival, Justin Northfield, on a 72 hole total of 311. Early leader, Daniel Rogers was third, a further 3 shots away. A model of consistency, Trevor Wood was too good for the A Reserve Grade field, winning with rounds of 80, 81, 83, and 81, for a winning total of 325. John Quirk was Runner Up on 331. Wood also took out the Veterans title. Terry O'Brien, after having a one shot lead going in to the final round, put his foot down, and cleared out for a decisive win with 342. O’Brien was assisted by his nearest rival, Noel Kinsley, having a last round of 96. however, Kinsley was able to hang on to the runner up position on 353, one ahead of young Shaun Greber, who had some consolation, winning the Junior Championship. In C Grade, Stephen Wills led throughout, despite a fading final round with a 99, for a 366 total, to have a 2 shot margin over the rapidly closing Frank Tarlinton. The 72 hole net winners were:
